STANDALONE HOME AUTOMATION SENSOR SYSTEM

We are four Electrical Engineering seniors at Texas A&M University at Qatar working on a Standalone Home Automation Sensor System.

Home automation involves connecting appliances and devices in a home to a common network that can be remotely operated.  These seem to be based heavily or exclusively on cloud computing. However, the convenience of large-scale home automation comes with the price of the loss of privacy and security. Our project investigates the heart of the home security dilemma today and solves it by creating a locally based, and thus standalone system for home automation rather than one that relies on cloud-based (and thus, easily hackable) communication.
